Wine Appreciation Cruises

Wine Appreciation Cruises

Highlights of our wine cruise aboard L'Impressionniste in Burgundy include visits to the renowned medieval chateau of Clos de Vougeot, headquarters of the esteemed Chevaliers du Tastevin, who award every year a special prized label to the finest Cote d’Or vintages. There will also be visits to some prestigious winemakers such as Domaine Jafflin, home to some of France’s finest Grand and Premier Cru wines, for private tastings. The cruise route meanders through some of the great Burgundy vineyards and towns such as Beaune, capital of the region with a history of viticulture going back over 2,000 years. The itinerary includes a visit to Maison Champy, Beaune’s oldest winery established in 1720 and with even older cellars.

The cruise aboard La Belle Epoque will take in as one of the excursions, the town of Nuits St George, where we visit a small family wine producer to visit their cellar and taste some of their world renowned Pinot Noirs from villages, including Gevrey-Chambertin and Vosne-Romanée.

A cruise aboard Anjodi on the Canal du Midi will include visits to the village of Boutenac to sample the internationally renowned Corbieres wine at the 17th Century Chateau LaVoulte Gasparets and a wine-tasting of the full-bodied Corbieres at the 500 year old vineyard Domaine de Guery.  Chateau de Pech Redon is also on the agenda where you will be able to taste the wonderfully complex velvety wines produced from the nearby Montagne de la Clape.

A supplement is paid for these cruises to cover the cost of a professional wine guide, comprehensive wine itinerary and an upgrade of all wines to include Premier and Grand Cru. A wine appreciation cruise can be booked any time by a group chartering the barge. If you are booking just one or two cabins and you wish to join other like-minded people then we may have a pre-arranged departure date for this purpose. If our date does not fit in with your plans then we can waitlist your request to see whether anyone else is interested in a wine appreciation cruise on that date. If you enjoy wine but wish to also explore other aspects of the region, our classic cruises include wine and wine tastings and the crew have extensive knowledge of the wines of the region.
