Inspired by his gastronomic journey through the idyllic waterways of Southern France, ‘Rick Stein's French Odyssey’ explores French culinary tradition. Deliciously filmed, Rick's culinary tour aboard hotel barges ‘Anjodi’ and 'Rosa' takes him via the Canal des Deux Mers and the Canal du Midi, connecting the Atlantic to the Mediterranean.
Rick journeyed aboard two of European Waterways' prettiest hotel barges.
The 8 passenger Anjodiis of classic Dutch design, specifically rebuilt to navigate the 300 year old Canal du Midi. She has been completely re-furbished in the tasteful tradition of African hardwoods, hand-crafted panelling and shining brass, creating a comfortable and charming ambience. The well planned accommodation offers a choice of four air-conditioned twin/double staterooms with full en-suite facilities. The sun deck is spacious and has a heated sunken Jacuzzi.
Rosaalso accommodates 8 passengers and is an old Dutch “Clipper” barge that has been completely refitted in 2010 to a high specification. Her saloon is particularly welcoming and features attractive wood panelling, comfortable seating and a cosy bar. There are four air-conditioned staterooms, each with full en-suite facilities. Outside there is a spacious sundeck with comfortable furniture.
Both of these charming hotel barges are perfect for you to embark on a French journey of culinary exploration of your own!
