River Yonne meeting Nivernais canal. the River mingles its whole journey between Clamecy and Auxerre with the Nivernais canal which has 110 locks in 175 kilometres. At the foot of this picture is the old logging port. Note the outline of the Berrichon wooden barge. Sunk and abandoned 40 years ago when these narrow barges were used to navigate the leaky canal du Berry from Nevers to St Aignan in the Loire et Cher region.
