Family cruise charters are now introduced to the Go Barging list of itineraries. Go Barging recognises that today’s hectic lifestyle allows little time for families to spend precious quality time together. Grandparents, parents and children rarely get an opportunity to experience group leisure time. The GoBarging family cruise vacation package provides the chance to share an experience that will be talked about over family dinners for years (and generations) to come.

Hotel Barging is also the perfect place to celebrate birthdays, graduations and anniversaries.

Planning a family vacation with children can be a bit of a daunting challenge. Making sure the hotel rooms are together, the meals are suitable and the excursions are fun for all the family are just a few of the components which, if badly planned, can ruin a holiday.

Our family cruise vacation package is tailored to the individual booking and allows families to have the whole floating hotel all to themselves. Barging allows them to visit a new location every day without the drama of packing and unpacking several times during their vacation. An onboard chef provides both the children and adults with a combination of menus that will delight all.

The captain will gently navigate the hotel barge down the smaller canals and rivers of Europe allowing families to either savour the delights of the countryside and canal side villages or cycle or stroll alongside the barge, should the family feel the need to exercise. Our housekeeper is ever present to attend to the families every need. Our younger crewmembers take the role of activities counsellors and appreciate that their friendly interaction with children on board is essential to achieve a great vacation for children and parents alike.

A variety of family activities can be arranged for all age groups both aboard and ashore. Older children may enjoy cultural excursions with their parents such as chateaux, museums, vineyard visits and local markets. Some of our locations boast beautiful beaches where a variety of water sports can be sampled such as sailing, windsurfing, paragliding or water-skiing. Other regions allow us to take you fishing or horse riding. Perhaps the family may enjoy a competitive game of tennis. On-board entertainment includes board games, videos, charades and treasure hunts. And after all that activity, it’s possible to relax in the barge Jacuzzi.

Children’s equipment such as car seats, highchairs, pushchairs and carrycots are provided on request. Safety jackets can be provided should it be felt necessary. Baby sitting is available on request.

The six night /seven day family cruise vacation package is available for between 4 and 12 passengers in the party. The price includes accommodation, champagne welcome, meals, refreshments and open bar (for the parents and grandparents!) use of all facilities on board, most shore excursions, admittance fees, use of bicycles and other facilities. All of the Go Barging fleet cruise between April and November.
