Christmas Cruises

Christmas Cruises

We offer Christmas cruises aboard two of our hotel barges, Magna Carta on the Royal River Thames and Scottish Highlander in the highlands of Scotland. We like to create an atmosphere that matches the season, with mince pies and Christmas decorations. On Christmas Eve, presents may be placed under the tree and an optional midnight mass is available.

The Magna Carta cruise is a wonderful 10-day experience, which also incorporates New Years Eve. She starts in Central London where she is moored in St Katherine's Dock near Tower Bridge. Then as the week unfolds, the barge makes her way past Chelsea and Richmond, on to Windsor and further upstream as the river gets more breathtaking. Highlights will include visits to Hampton Court Palace, Runnymede, Windsor Castle and the opportunity to enjoy bracing walks in the Royal Parks, or a pint of ale in an old pub in front a roaring log fire. And, of course, when you return to the warm and cosy Magna Carta, you will be greeted with wonderful Christmas fare and warming drinks like mulled wine.

There is also a wide selection of optional entertainment to choose from such as London Ghost Walks, viewing the Christmas lights, ice-skating at Somerset House or Hampton Court Palace, carol concerts and pantomimes.

The Scottish Highlander Christmas cruise is for 4 nights and ideal for people preferring a relaxing and traditional Yuletide break. There will be deer-spotting excursions, whisky tastings, traditional music and some wonderful Scottish fare such as locally-sourced game and salmon. The Legends of the past, the taste of single malt and the mythical inhabitant of Loch Ness all contribute to a special magic at this time of year, only experienced in Scotland's dramatic Highlands.
